As that extra responsibility can, at times, be a pain, dogs are amazing animals; Truly the epitome of unconditional love. We can't deny that we are complex beings, made up of past, present and future. To try to be in just one of those would be like trying not to be human. comforting and normalizing to those of us (me!!) who get taken with the idea of the present.

Best to your dear Athena.katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08024345906273810543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-29465611878949194252009-09-14T11:11:58.033-07:002009-09-14T11:11:58.033-07:00That sounds like quite a scare. Isn't it amazing how the loss or aging of a pet puts our own lives in such remarkable perspective?Floor Piehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06533240227865369012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-26214164163285643682009-09-14T08:20:43.416-07:002009-09-14T08:20:43.416-07:00Many many more summers to you! Many many more summers to you!MOM #1https://www.blogger.com/profile/11581360715920982011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-69731692962641859702009-09-14T07:59:56.923-07:002009-09-14T07:59:56.923-07:00Nice writing Tom, to me this kind of writing is li...Nice writing Tom, to me this kind of writing is like a magic trick. I enjoy it but have no concept how to do it, you could show me but I still couldn't do the trick. I love the aging dog - the aging man parallel, the words like "hip replacement" are suddenly objects we can see in the far horizon and we are also watching our 20-30 year older parents deal with the things Athena is. For us middle age folks there is something about realizing your past is the larger sum of your years, than your future will be. I feel so fortunate to be a teacher and actually have a summer, the time to just be rather than just some days of nice weather I can enjoy on my weekends.

Song for the day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZGHTkmhxgQUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07272007711016183417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-54015911217420970572009-09-14T07:44:36.951-07:002009-09-14T07:44:36.951-07:00This is very deep and I will have to sit and ponde...This is very deep and I will have to sit and ponder it all a bit... and I always enjoy things that inspire me to ponder.Eternal Lizdomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12436844959718198383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-28677522595578089742009-09-14T07:34:55.133-07:002009-09-14T07:34:55.133-07:00May you have at least sixty more summers!
