It has the most amazing quality, not like drawn crayon pictures at all, but large areas of very smooth, very flat waxy surfaces. The colors don't really mix but they do overlay each other. Your set-up would work for this, too.Barbara Zaborowskinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-34787436024155858412010-06-16T18:39:16.030-07:002010-06-16T18:39:16.030-07:00This is so great! I am so glad you found inspiration in one of my projects! i love that you did a project like this with 26 kids--- it shows that you can do really cool stuff in a large group, and that you don't have to resort to coloring books all of the time, just because you have a big class of kids. You are such an inspiration. I probably wouldn't homeschool at all if I could find a school that had teachers as passionate and interested as you!Ariellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11187228073968629552noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-88707710270820780422010-06-16T18:25:08.801-07:002010-06-16T18:25:08.801-07:00Awesome once again!Awesome once again!MommyTeacher123https://www.blogger.com/profile/03846364789691520584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-1729469178693039132010-06-16T18:17:04.771-07:002010-06-16T18:17:04.771-07:00Hi Tom - You have been busy this summer. You are really stepping out there and doing some amazing projects. Love the home made blocks too!

DeborahDeborah Stewarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04992053244004086395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-83030199176063972082010-06-16T14:21:29.621-07:002010-06-16T14:21:29.621-07:00I hope you'll find the kids' interest deep...I hope you'll find the kids' interest deepening when the project is repeated for several days. Were the dots of pink on the yellow dog intentional? I could see a lot of interest in creating dots and stripes and rainbows with the melted wax...or pouring two colors and mixing quickly to try to create a new color. Maybe layering lots of thin slices of different colors. ARGGH! It's moments like this I want my class back for the summer to try this stuff. I've stolen so many good ideas from you and I have no class to try them on until late August. BTW, the word I need to fill in to post this is "whogies." What a fun "word."Barbara Zaborowskinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-15266132699128108622010-06-16T14:08:12.245-07:002010-06-16T14:08:12.245-07:00Oh boy ... you're inside my head again Mr. Hob...Oh boy ... you're inside my head again Mr. Hobson! Seriously there just isn't enough space for the two of us in there!
As you know we've been grating and ironing crayons this week and the next step, NATURALLY, is to melt down the crayon stubble to make new crayons ... but it seems you already know that right! Sherry is going to start to doubt MY ideas as my own ... but she will get a laugh out of it! I can hear her now when I tell her about our timing (again). I bet she says ... OH YOU'RE KIDDING! hee hee!
Donna :) :)Play for Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08475920387209134195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-40350866415149333992010-06-16T11:48:10.506-07:002010-06-16T11:48:10.506-07:00i love it! i am suggesting this to our reggio-ins...i love it! i am suggesting this to our reggio-inspired preschool science teacher!Mrs Addamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04910532509825860625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-47545346461692146662010-06-16T11:04:16.628-07:002010-06-16T11:04:16.628-07:00How cool!!!! And the great thing about your choice...How cool!!!! And the great thing about your choice to use crayons is that they can opt to use them to draw with too! I grew up making homemade candles in our 4-H club and sculpting with wax. We make muffin tin rainbow crayons, sand candles, water candles, ice cube candles, etc, but I haven't molded the wax in playdough.... I'll have to put it on the "to do" list for us!Amy A @ Child Central Stationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07846984785038373093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-54291345675401656772010-06-16T10:34:52.534-07:002010-06-16T10:34:52.534-07:00Dear Teacher Tom,

This website provides helpful insight into the field of school counseling for those who are performing their career exploration or simply interested in learning more. It seems like it would be a worthy link on your blog.

Hope this is helpful,

Seth SanfordUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16240213342513680549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-25233775448822173432010-06-16T08:21:08.944-07:002010-06-16T08:21:08.944-07:00Ooo, more danger in Teacher Tom's classroom!
