I love that a child came up with this idea on his own, and that they also figured out the the Ivory Snow would slow the explosion period down a bit. Stink bombs!

We've been doing the Diet Coke and Mentos for a few years now, although I just dump the entire package of candy in there. This summer, we experimented by trying it under our rain/sun canopy, which is about 8 feet high. It hit the top, then rained Diet Coke down on us! Woo hoo! We've also tried putting a Mento in our mouths, then taking a mouthful of Diet Coke. I guarantee you can't keep your mouth closed! I always tell the kids that this experiment is evidence that soda and candy are dangerous poisons, not food.Teacher Tomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14606781724784785338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-34189239192395785612010-09-04T09:48:41.004-07:002010-09-04T09:48:41.004-07:00By far my favorite post. Now move onto mentos and diet coke - go for at least 7 mentos in every 2 litre bottle.

When I was in Grade 5 I saved up for a chemistry set. My friend and I discovered that if you put at little of every chemical into the test tube and heated up, that was fun...adding iron filings at the last moment turned the concoction into the most almighty stink bomb.

We took it to school...and we pretended we were demonstrating a real experiment. My smart teacher worked out quickly what was going on and let us proceed. When the bomb exploded she rushed to the window, flung it open and panted like mad.

It was a lot of fun...!Juliet Robertsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07035975039896986525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-20027472152484023842010-09-04T08:35:26.521-07:002010-09-04T08:35:26.521-07:00This is awesome!
