The other day, one of the Fours was reminding a Two of the steps for washing hands... "First, we turn the water on. Then we get our hands all wet. Now we're ready for soap!" and just this afternoon, the child who walked into a doorpost in the hallway right after my oft-repeated reminder to look where we're going was greeted with a chorus of his ever-so-helpful peers: "We look where we are going so we do not crash!"Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14303277913302644977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-82752642935308269912011-10-20T14:20:23.586-07:002011-10-20T14:20:23.586-07:00Could you please give me the details about your un...Could you please give me the details about your unrelated pictures of coffee bean play?it looks really fun and I want to try in in our classrooms. In my kindergarten room, we read the same stories over and over again, and the children glean more and more each time, with the same delight. Ditto for our "Good morning" song...when I sing "Your face is like sunshine, it fills me with cheer! I'm so glad to see you, I'm happy you're here!", they're fit to burst with joy, even though I've taught some of them for two years and they've heard it SO many times. Some things are worth repeating over and over: I like you. You're sweet. I love you. That was a nice thing to do! and so on...The Knitty Gritty Homesteadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02890656094078973552noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-10188526967114859832011-10-20T08:59:18.441-07:002011-10-20T08:59:18.441-07:00Absolutely right on the mark, yes young children d...Absolutely right on the mark, yes young children do find repetition comforting, I think. Wonderful sensory activity, in your pictures as well.
BrendaMullin Avenue Workshophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09489785153205822301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15932919.post-76906464542638411562011-10-20T08:42:16.561-07:002011-10-20T08:42:16.561-07:00I'm glad I'm not the only one who hears hi...I'm glad I'm not the only one who hears his voice saying the same words again and again. Repetition is a key way of learning for these kids. (And I know a few adults that need to hear the same things repeatedly, too.)

Thanks, Teacher Tom, for repeating these things for us.Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11397525011462974857noreply@blogger.com
