I'm a parent of a two year old and as we are pondering pre-school options, the last thing we want to see is curriculum and standards managed by the government, let alone the City of Seattle (and we're not even Republicans). The initiatives also seem to me to be solutions to the wrong problems: low wages (for parents, as well as teachers), ineffective management of existing schools, and income disparity in the state. Creating pre-school programs is not going to fix those problems, only—as you suggest—further entrench already vicious circles of inequality.Bob Redmondnoreply@blogger.com
